How Long Does a Custom Suit Take in Hong Kong?

If you are planning a trip to Hong Kong and want a suit made while you are there, the first question is almost always the same: how long does it take? The short answer is that men's suits at Rashmi Custom Tailors are usually ready in 24 to 48 hours, and women's suits take at least 3 days. The rest of this guide explains what that means for a short visit, how shirts fit into the timeline, and how to book so you leave with clothes that fit.

Why Hong Kong turnaround is so quick

Rashmi has been a bespoke family tailor in Hong Kong since 1987. Every client gets their own pattern cut from their measurements, and the work is done in-house rather than shipped out to another city. That is why a men's suit can move from fitting to collection in a day or two when your travel dates require it.

We have made clothes for over 45,000 clients since 1987, including around 5,000 grooms. The process is the same whether you are ordering a first business suit, a wedding outfit or a few shirts to go with what you already own.

Men's suits: 24 to 48 hours

For men, a typical suit order is ready within 24 to 48 hours. Larry confirms your fitting and collection times when you place the order, so you can plan the rest of your trip around them.

A sensible plan for a short stay looks like this:

• Book before you fly, so a slot is waiting on your first or second day
• Come in early in the visit rather than on your last afternoon
• Allow a full 24 to 48 hours between order and collection
• Leave a little breathing room before your flight home in case a small adjustment is needed

If you only have two full days in the city, message us with your arrival and departure dates. We will tell you honestly whether a suit order will fit, or whether shirts alone make more sense on this trip.

Women's suits: at least 3 days

Women's suits take at least 3 days. That is still fast by international standards, but it does mean a weekend stopover is usually too short. If you want a women's suit made in Hong Kong, plan for at least three clear days between your appointment and collection, and book before you travel so the calendar works.

Pricing for women's suits is confirmed at your consultation. Suits at our Hong Kong shop start from HK$3,500 and shirts from HK$580; the final figure depends on the cloth and the details you choose.

What about shirts and other garments?

Shirts are often ordered alongside a suit. Tell us when you book what you need and by when; Larry will confirm what can be ready before you leave. We make suits, shirts, stretch polos, tuxedos, smoking jackets and trousers (dress, casual and stretch athletic) for men, and suits for women. With about 2,000 fabrics to choose from, there is room for both everyday work clothes and something for a specific event.

What happens at the appointment

Visits are by appointment only (no walk-ins). Our shop is at 12/F, Block A, Suite A3, Burlington Arcade, 90–94 Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, about a 2-minute walk from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR Exit B1. Hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 8pm, and Sundays and public holidays 10am to 6pm. Larry handles Hong Kong fittings himself.

You choose cloth, settle the style details, and have your measurements taken. Because each client gets an individual pattern kept on file, reorders later are straightforward even if you are not in Hong Kong again soon.
