Most men think about a suit when they think about tailoring. Yet the shirt is the garment you wear most often, five days a week, under a jacket, a knit or on its own. When it fits, you stop noticing it. When it does not, you notice it all day: a collar that pinches by lunchtime, sleeves that disappear inside your jacket, or fabric that billows at the waist when you sit down.

From 12 to 16 October 2026, Rashmi Custom Tailors is in Oslo at Comfort Hotel Grand Central. It is a good opportunity to replace your everyday shirts with a set made to your measurements.

Fit: the three things that matter most
The collar. A good collar sits close without pressing, with room for a finger or two when it is buttoned. It should stand neatly under a jacket and look just as tidy when you take the tie off at the end of the day.

The cuffs. Cuffs should be snug enough to stay in place at the wrist, with a little extra room on your watch side if you wear one.

The sleeve length. The sleeve should finish at the base of the thumb, so about a centimetre of cuff shows beneath your jacket sleeve. Ready-made shirts rarely get this right for both arms and shoulders at once; a custom shirt does.

Beyond these, we take measurements for the chest, waist and length, so the shirt is clean through the body and stays tucked in.

Collar and cuff styles
A spread collar is the most versatile choice for the office, with or without a tie. A cutaway collar is a touch more contemporary and suits a larger tie knot. A button-down collar is relaxed and perfect with a sport jacket or a knit. For cuffs, a barrel cuff with one or two buttons is practical every day, while French cuffs with cufflinks add a quiet formality for meetings and special occasions. We will talk through what suits your face, your build and how you dress.

Fabrics for daily office wear
We offer a range of high-quality cotton fabrics for dress shirts and for shirts worn untucked. For the office, poplin is smooth and crisp, twill is soft and a little more forgiving of creases, and oxford cloth is sturdy and slightly casual. A small wardrobe of white, pale blue and a few discreet stripes or checks covers almost every working week.

Because your measurements are taken once and recorded, the October visit is an easy moment to order several shirts at a time: a rotation for the working week in a few different fabrics and collar styles. Shirts start from NOK 750; we go through the fabric options and prices with you before you order. Shipping to Norway is free.

Your shirts are then cut and sewn in our workshop in Hong Kong and shipped to you. According to our Oslo and Traveling Tailor pages, delivery is typically 6–8 weeks, and it can often be arranged sooner.
